Ceremonies and Celebrants

Celebrants of the British Humanist Association (BHA) Ceremonies™ Network are accredited to conduct funerals. They are friendly, trained and experienced.

Celebrants will usually meet with the family or friends who are most closely connected with the person who has died. They will want to learn as much about the person as possible, so that the funeral or memorial tribute justly captures the life and personality of that person. Whatever the circumstances of the person’s life and death, the celebrant is there to be understanding and compassionate.

Celebrants meet with the couple before the ceremony, to consult, answer questions, discuss ideas and to prepare a script especially tailored for the couple. They can advise on ways of handling small details that help to make such occasions a big success
